Based upon my experience and rewiews ive read. spy bot search and destroy works well at finding viruses adware exe... but fails at remove ing most of it. The main reson for this is because your pc is still proccessing information from the file or reading it. While this is happening most fies wont delete or delete properly. I recomend u try to run spybot S %26 D in save mode.

It can assist in the removal of spyware/malware, you really need to run a few different programs to make sure you're 100% clean. On windows systems I run hijackthis, adaware se, spybot s%26d, if you want to spend a little money get spy sweeper, it has the highest user ratings! Here's their link for a free scan:

Yes, Spybot is a very good spyware removal app, you may also want to install at least a couple more as some tend to find things the others don't. You also may want to try the utility hijack this which is a huge help in removing difficult spyware/malware etc..
